Introduction to Computer System


Good Morning boys. Hope all is well.

Lets begin our session today. We will be talking about the Features of Computers today.

Please note that today both the periods will be theory. So, NO Google meet class today.

Good Morning boys. In today's session, we will be discussing the Capabilities and Limitations of a computer.

By the end of the session, you will be able to understand the

  • Capabilities of a computer
  • Limitations of a computer

Features of a Computer:-
Following are some qualities that facilitate such wide use and popularity of computers.

  • Speed-Computers work at very high speed and have capability of processing complex instructions.
  • Accuracy - Computers give highly accurate results as they perform computations with accuracy.
  • Storage Capacity - Computers have high storage capacity to save information for future use.
  • Reliability - Computers are highly reliable as they rarely break or fail.
  • Consistency - Computers generate consistent results if they are provided the same input and processes.
  • Versatility - Computers perform different types of tasks such as those related to education, entertainment, healthcare, accounting, etc.

                                              


Limitations of Computers :                

Computers have the following limitations :
  • No power to make decisions - Computers cannot take decisions on their own. They depend on input being provided by humans.
  • No IQ - Computers do no have self intelligence, instead they need instructions from humans regarding the jobs to be done.
  • No heuristics - Computers cannot learn from their past experiences. When a computer commits an error in a particular situation it will continue making the same mistake if the situation remains unchanged.
